2048.now Ranks & Progression

2048.now uses a 13-tier military rank ladder built on 10 trophy categories — meaning every part of the game contributes to your overall progression, and your rank can only ever go up. This hub explains how ranks work, what each tier costs in trophies, and how to progress efficiently. See your current standing on the leaderboard.

1

How does the rank system work?

Your rank is a military title awarded by your total trophy count, pooled across all 10 trophy categories. There are 13 tiers and no sub-levels: each tier has a single trophy threshold, starting at Private on 0 trophies and finishing at General on 1,200. Because trophies are only ever added and never removed, every promotion you earn is permanent.

2

What are all the rank tiers?

All 13 tiers, with the total trophy count that unlocks each one:

  • Private — 0
  • Private First Class — 100
  • Corporal — 200
  • Sergeant — 300
  • Staff Sergeant — 400
  • Sergeant First Class — 500
  • Master Sergeant — 600
  • Warrant Officer — 700
  • Lieutenant — 800
  • Captain — 900
  • Major — 1,000
  • Colonel — 1,100
  • General — 1,200

Higher ranks also unlock higher daily and season quest levels, and Staff Sergeant at 400 trophies is the point where Elite daily quests, worth double coins and XP, become available. The Rank System Guide has the full tier table.

3

What are trophies and how are they earned?

7

What are daily quests?

Daily quests are a set of challenges that refresh every 24 hours — examples include "Score above 20,000 in a Classic game", "Win 2 multiplayer matches", or "Complete a game without using any undos." Completing quests earns XP, coins, and occasional gems. They're the single most efficient daily activity for progression, especially for players who can only play 20–30 minutes per day.

8

What are coins used for?

Coins are the everyday currency, earned by playing ranked games and clearing quests, and spent on equipment and Shop items. They cannot be bought with real money. Coins and gems compared →

9

What are gems used for?

Gems are the rarer currency used for Arena tickets, gem-only cosmetics and crafting recipes, and they come from login streaks, quest milestones, events and rank promotions. What coins and gems are for → · Gems Guide

10

How long does it take to reach each rank?

It depends entirely on how many trophy categories you work on: players who spread their play across grid sizes, quests and Arena climb the 1,200-trophy ladder far faster than Classic-only players. How long ranking up on 2048.now takes →

11

What is the Win Streak trophy and why does it matter?

It tracks your longest run of consecutive ranked wins, and each streak milestone adds trophies in the Win Streak category, which feeds straight into your rank. What a 2048.now win streak is worth →

12

What is the difference between seasonal rank and all-time rank?

Your all-time rank is your military title (Private → General) based on cumulative trophy count — it never resets. Your seasonal position is your placement on the monthly leaderboard based on that month's scores — it resets at month end and determines seasonal prizes. They measure different things: all-time rank measures total career achievement, seasonal position measures recent peak performance.

13

Do quest and achievement completions stack permanently?

Yes — all quest and achievement completions are permanent records. The Quest Completion trophy category tracks cumulative quest completions over your entire account lifetime. Even if you take a break and return months later, every quest you completed previously still counts toward your Quest Completion trophy total and your overall rank.
