How to Join a 2048 Clan

Every clan on the site is listed in the table above, sorted by name. Each row shows the clan's tag — the short code its members carry in brackets — its current member count, and the minimum number of trophies it asks of newcomers. Clans that are open to new members show a Join button; press it while signed in and you are in straight away, provided your trophy total meets that minimum.

Trophies only ever go up on 2048.now, so a requirement you fall short of today is a target rather than a lockout — keep playing ranked games and the clan stays open to you later. If nothing in the list fits, any signed-in player can create one: pick a name and a tag nobody has taken, add a short description, and you become its leader on the spot. Members can leave whenever they like; the only exception is the leader, who has to hand leadership over first.

How 2048 Clan Challenges Are Played and Scored

A clan challenge is a team match between two clans, and only a clan leader can start one. The leader picks an opposing clan and issues the challenge; the team size is set automatically to the smaller of the two clans' member counts, so a large clan can never field more players than its opponent is able to answer. Only one open challenge can exist between the same two clans at a time.

The challenged clan's leader accepts or declines. On acceptance the team size is recalculated against current membership, and each leader then names exactly that many members to their roster. As soon as both rosters are complete the challenge begins and both teams are issued the same board seed, so the two sides are solving an identical board rather than two different ones.

Every player on both rosters submits their own result once. A win is recorded with its finish time; anything else is recorded without one. When the last slot on both sides has submitted, the challenge settles itself: each side is averaged over the times it actually recorded, and the lower average wins. A side where nobody finished cannot win, and two identical averages are a draw. Depth therefore counts for more than a single fast player — one excellent run cannot rescue a roster where the rest did not finish.

Leading a Clan

The leader is the only member who can issue and accept challenges, name a roster, and change the clan avatar. Clans of ten members or more can also replace their leader from below: every member other than the current leader has to nominate the same player, and the moment that vote is unanimous the nomination takes effect and the votes are cleared. Anything short of unanimity changes nothing, so leadership never flips on a narrow majority.

What Makes a Strong 2048 Clan

Roster depth

A strong clan is not just its fastest player. Rosters are sized to the smaller clan and scored on an average, so every named member's result carries weight.

Challenge history

Each challenge page records both rosters, the submitted times, and the final result, so teams can review a matchup after it settles. Head-to-head practice happens in real-time multiplayer.

Player progression

Members bring individual trophies, ranks, and leaderboard history into the team context, making clans a useful way to discover serious competitors. How the rank ladder works.
