No — your military rank in 2048.now is permanent and can only increase. It never decreases, regardless of how many games you lose, how long you go without playing, or what happens in any given season. Your rank is read straight off your total trophy count, and every one of the 10 trophy categories stores a personal best rather than a current form rating, so the total can only ratchet upwards.
Why the trophy total can only go up
Rank is not a separate number that gets adjusted after each game. It is recalculated from scratch every time you finish a game: the system scores each trophy category, adds the results, and looks the total up against the 13 rank thresholds. The reason that total never falls is that each category is fed by a best-ever statistic, not a recent-form one.

The win streak row is the one that surprises people most. Losing a ranked game does set your live streak counter back to zero, but the trophy category reads your longest streak, which is stored separately and never overwritten downwards. Why ranks are designed this way
2048 is a game where luck — in the form of tile spawns — can occasionally cause even skilled players to lose well-played games. A rank system that decreases on losses would penalize players for bad luck outside their control, and would push people to stop playing once they hit a tier they were afraid of losing.
The permanent model rewards genuine achievement instead: when a trophy pushes you across a rank threshold, that milestone is yours forever. Playing more games can only help your rank, never hurt it — which means there is never a reason to sit on a rank rather than risk a hard mode.
What a season reset does and does not touch
The one thing on 2048.now that genuinely resets is the seasonal ladder, which starts from zero for everyone on the first of each month. That is a separate competition with its own standings and its own prizes; it is not an input to your military rank. A season reset zeroes your seasonal position and seasonal score, and nothing else — your trophies, rank, XP, currency and equipment all carry straight over. The rank ladder itself runs from Private at 0 trophies to General at 1,200 across 13 tiers, and once you have crossed a threshold you stay above it permanently. The only way to move on that ladder is up.
