What’s New on 2048.now
2048.now is worked on continuously, and this page records the changes players can actually see: new pages and features, corrections to game information that was wrong, and fixes to things that were broken. Purely internal work — database indexes, caching, build tooling — is left out. Entries are grouped by the day the change shipped, newest first. Anything missing or still wrong? The help centre has a contact route, and the game itself is always at the homepage.
2 August 2026
- Site search now works. The header search box had no results page behind it, so every search ended on a 404. Searching now returns matching help and FAQ pages, published blog posts and player profiles.
- Player ratings. Signed-in players can rate the game from one to five stars, change their rating later, and see the running average.
- A "Why Play 2048" section on the homepage, plus more links between the game, the help centre and the blog.
- Game information corrected across the help centre. A pass over the FAQ and help pages replaced descriptions that no longer matched how the game actually behaves.
- Escaped markup fixed. Raw HTML was showing as literal text in a few places on the clans, events and tile-strategy pages.
1 August 2026
- Heading structure and cross-linking overhaul across the help centre, so every FAQ answer links to the related answers instead of dead-ending.
- More copy corrected against the code, including scoring and mode descriptions that contradicted the game.
27 June 2026
- Around 50 broken internal links repaired. They had been rendering as inert text rather than working links.
- 17 short FAQ pages expanded into full answers, along with several help centre pages.
- Shop and marketplace descriptions corrected where they no longer matched what the store sells.
11 June 2026
- Daily challenge archive added, so past daily challenges can be browsed instead of disappearing at midnight.
- The blog index is paginated rather than loading every post at once.
- The 2048 world record page was rebuilt, and related-links panels were added to the foot of FAQ pages.
- Leftover Minesweeper branding removed from the site copy and from the install-to-home-screen app manifest.
1 June 2026
- Broken link fixed on the players-online page, which pointed at a page that no longer existed.
28 May 2026
- Correct logo. The site logo was still a bomb image inherited from an earlier project; it is now the 2048 tile.
24 May 2026
- The game moved to the homepage. 2048.now now loads a playable board at the root URL, and the old /play address redirects there permanently.
- Written sections added to the blog, clans and tournaments pages, which had been listings with no explanation.
9 May 2026
- Premium accounts see no ads at all.
- Ad slots stopped shifting the page as they loaded, so the board no longer jumps under your finger.
- Three FAQ pages repaired after broken template tags stopped them rendering.
27 April 2026
- Faster image loading. The landing images were compressed and given WebP versions.
This log starts in April 2026 and only covers changes players can see. For how the game itself works, read the 2048 rules; for everything else, start at the help centre.
