Can You Trade Equipment With Other Players?
Not directly. Equipment items in 2048.now are account-bound: once you buy or craft a board skin, tile style or avatar frame it is permanently tied to your account and cannot be sold, gifted or transferred. What you can trade is the material behind them — gems. Every gem type is listable on the Marketplace for coins, so any craftable item is indirectly reachable through trading.
How gem trading works
The Marketplace is a player-to-player exchange open to every registered account — no subscription required. Sellers list a quantity of one gem type at a price per unit in coins; buyers pay the coin total and the gems move straight into their inventory. Listings can be cancelled at any time and the gems come back to you. Every gem in the game is tradeable: the ten precious types (Garnet, Ruby, Topaz, Amethyst, Aquamarine, Onyx, Jade, Emerald, Sapphire, Diamond) and the collectible coin gems alike. These are the same gems quests award and the Shop sells — there is only one gem system, and no separate premium gem.
Why gem trading effectively is equipment trading
Most equipment items have a craft recipe — a fixed set of gems plus a reduced coin fee. Because the gems are tradeable, every craftable item is reachable through the Marketplace:
- Missing one gem? Buy it from another player rather than waiting for a level 9 or level 11 quest to hand you one. It is usually far cheaper than paying the item's full coin price.
- Sitting on duplicates? Sell the gems your recipes don't call for, and spend the coins on the ones they do.
- Chasing a Legendary? The Cosmic board skin is 8,000 coins outright, or 2 Emerald, 1 Diamond and 1,500 coins to craft. Buying three gems on the Marketplace is nearly always the cheaper route.
Trade restrictions
- Equipment items are never listed — only gems can be bought and sold
- All trades are priced in coins; there are no direct gem-for-gem swaps
- You cannot buy your own listing, and a sale is final once completed
- A free account is all you need — trading is not gated behind Premium
Working out a fair price
There is no fixed exchange rate, so the useful reference point is the Shop's fixed gem prices: Garnet 200, Topaz 400, Amethyst 750 and Emerald 1,200 coins. Anything listed below the Shop price for those four is a straightforward win. For the types the Shop does not stock — Ruby, Aquamarine, Onyx, Jade, Sapphire and Diamond — the only supply is quest rewards and other players, so prices float with how many people happen to be crafting that week. Sorting the Marketplace by best offers shows the cheapest price per unit first, which is the quickest way to see where a gem is currently trading before you list your own.
